The National Arbour Day 2015

The Khammouan Agriculture & Forestry Department held a trees planting ceremony on 29 May 2015 starting at 7:30 a. m at Lao-luang village in Hinboun district, Khammouan province. The planting area is 10 ha, with more than 18,000 seedlings planted, among them are of species Mai Tiew, hybrid Acacia and Eucalyptus. The deputy province governor- Mr. Odai Soudaphone honorably chaired ceremony, also attended were the governor of Hinboun district and delegates from province and district leadership, government officials from different departments and sections of the province and districts, from Lao Youth Union, young pioneers, villagers of Ban Lao-luang and Ban Pakveng, totally over 500 people.

 

 

 

Public addressing in this ceremony, Mr.Khamsone Ouaythavy- Head of Khammouan PAFO read out the history of the national arbour day, forests significance and general situation of forests in the Lao PDR.

Mr. Hideke Sannabe- Managing Director of the LPFL also gave his viewpoints saying that planting trees is very important as they are environment-friendly and contribution to national economic development as well as for commercial business.

The chair-person called for all sectors and ethnical group people unite together to plant trees in order to rehabilitate and protect forests so that we can achieve the forest strategic target by the year 2020 by which the forest coverage will be 70%. The related local authorities were assigned to maintain and take care of those tree seedlings plated to let them grow regularly and quickly. Then, the closure of ceremony was made officially on the same day.

Then, the forestry technical staff demonstrated the method of trees planting, the participants undertake to plant trees until 10:30 a. m. This tree-planting festivity met the planned target and is seems successful !.
